Thanks to its headless and API-driven architecture, Sylius' extensive and powerful features can enrich the customer experience with commerce functions wherever needed. The success of this approach is evident: over 40,000 monthly downloads, more than 3,500 shops implemented with Sylius, a growing number of enterprise customers and a rapidly expanding partner network. And best of all: as an open source solution, the software is available free of licence fees.
With Sylius as the e-commerce component of the INFOLOX Omnichannel Box, INFOLOX implements the most sophisticated international e-commerce solutions: multi-site, multi-market and multi-language, with tens of thousands of products, variants and downloads, configurators, finders, filters, product comparisons, multi-memo pads, dynamic search and much more. Naturally with interfaces to ERP and PIM systems and as a scalable cloud solution.
INFOLOX has been relying on Sylius for several years and has been a partner from the very beginning. Sylius founder Pawel Jedrzejewski was already a speaker at our internal Information Day, the infoforum, in 2017. INFOLOX's requirements are given priority in the development of Sylius.
How did this collaboration come about and what were the criteria that led infoINFOLOX lox to choose Sylius? Several years ago, we began searching for an e-commerce solution that would fit perfectly with our vision of a B2C/B2B content and commerce platform. We focused on a wide range of aspects:
- Headless, API-First, Best of Breed
- Do the software manufacturer and the entire development team sufficiently understand that, in most cases, their software is only PART of the overall solution?
- That the focus of modern architectures and solutions is on interaction with other systems such as ERP, CRM, PIM, MAM and CMS?
- Cloud ready
- Is the software designed in such a way that it can run as part of a solution in a cloud environment distributed across 1-x containers and can be scaled optimally?
- Technology and community
- Is the technology and software sufficiently hip and cool that enough developers worldwide will enjoy using it to create projects?
- Are there enough companies building on the same technology stack?
- Ecosystem and loyal partners
- Has the software manufacturer understood that, in addition to good software, it is primarily important to develop a highly qualified and loyal ecosystem in order to bring the product to market quickly and successfully without spending millions of euros on marketing and the like, and without evaluating partners solely on the basis of how much revenue they generate?
- Suitable for typical INFOLOX customers
- Manufacturers and retailers of products that often require explanation, multiple markets, languages, industry-specific individual requirements
- Product finders, configurators, etc.
- Connection to PIM/MAM and ERP, etc.
- As much "standardisation" as possible while allowing maximum freedom for scaling and customisation
- Does the business model fit?
- Enterprise open source ... you can start small and add manufacturer support and additional features at any time.
After intensive research and initial projects, we came across Sylius relatively quickly about four years ago – because hardly anyone else met our requirements. As the first partner in the DACH region, INFOLOX opted for Sylius very early on, and the software is now used in many of our content & commerce projects with PIM, MAM, CMS and e-commerce. But even as a stand-alone solution for smaller shop projects, we always prefer Sylius to other solutions from the PHP Symfony ecosystem. In a very short time, Pawel and his team have managed to position Sylius throughout Europe with agencies and end customers as an enterprise e-commerce framework for complex e-commerce projects. Feedback from customers and partners has been consistently positive.
After Sylius launched the Plus Edition last year with several enhancements and enterprise support from the manufacturer, we developed an exclusive B2C/B2B edition and integrated it into our solution kit with PIM/MAM, CMS and shop.
The B2B edition is based on Sylius and adds further functions that are essential for B2B. In addition to a comprehensive roles/rights/workflow module for freely mapping purchasing organisations, sales organisations and quotation/order workflows between both organisations with limitations, approvals, discounts and so on, the focus is on mapping customer-specific use cases with:
- Customised prices, discounts, etc.
- Order templates
- Autocomplete/AutoSuggest search for products, documents, topics, etc.
- Notepads and multi-notepads with printing, export/import, PDF creation, etc.
- Download centre, media library
- Product comparison
- Product finder and variant finder
- Guided selling
- Quick order
- Marketing automation integration
- etc.
Sylius now provides us with the ideal foundation for B2C/B2B content and commerce projects – especially with the integration of PIM, MAM, ERP and CMS.
At INFOLOX, we are very pleased to have found a partner in Sylius who understands not only user experience, but also full-stack Symfony, cloud, API-first, headless, best-of-breed, quality and loyalty to partners and customers in the same way we do at INFOLOX.
