Only those who search find. In line with this motto, infolox has made the Wieland Electric GmbH B2B online shop fit for the future with filters and dynamic product search – and has also designed a mobile version.
Contemporary product searches use filters and dynamic search results. Every online shopper is familiar with this approach from leading B2C web shops such as Amazon or Zalando. However, filter-based and dynamic product access is also being used more and more in the B2B sector. Nevertheless, the optimal design of these elements in the field of technical products is a complex task due to the large number of relevant parameters.
This task was assigned to infolox by Bamberg-based Wieland Electric GmbH, the market leader in pluggable installation technology for functional buildings. Access to Wieland's deeply structured product range was previously provided by a navigation system with six levels of product groups and a standard full-text search.
The focus of the optimisation carried out by the e-commerce and usability experts at infolox was on the consistent implementation of a new navigation approach consisting of full-text search with autocomplete and dynamic product hit display, supplemented by seamless integration of the product finder and navigation tree.
The all-in-one search was designed to display matching products and product families as soon as the search term is entered. A new feature is a product filter that allows products to be selected based on their technical parameters, with the option to switch between the filter and tree navigation at any point.
In the second step, the infolox concept was adapted for mobile devices. This means that users can also enjoy optimal usability on their smartphones.
"Full-text search with dynamic product display and feature-based filtering integrated into the classic navigation tree give Wieland Electric customers optimal product access in any user situation and with any end device," emphasises Stefan Winkler, Senior Consultant and Project Manager at infolox.
The concept was implemented based on the B2B e-commerce solution IntelliShop in conjunction with the leading product search engine findologic.
„Thanks to their extensive target group experience in the field of electrical engineering, the consultants at infolox were quickly able to define how the optimal product access on our eShop should be designed."
Norbert Back, Head of IT eBusiness at Wieland Electric GmbH
