INFOLOX designs and implements automated print publishing for SOLA-Messwerkzeuge GmbH with three product ranges and nine languages – directly from Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
After a brief analysis and evaluation phase, SOLA commissioned INFOLOX to design and implement the new print catalogue, including associated price lists from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system.
The basis for automated publishing with Adobe InDesign is INFOLOX's XML exchange format OML, which could be generated directly from Dynamics NAV after brief consultation with SOLA's ERP experts.
Just four weeks after the project started, SOLA was able to take over the first output of print publications for content review and finalisation. Using the INFOLOX publishing process, print catalogues for three product ranges and nine languages, as well as the corresponding price lists, are now published fully automatically.
With INFOLOX scripts and the publishing tool ixConnect for InDesign, it was also possible to automate the content-dependent placement of graphics and the creation of dynamic page references. The language-dependent texts are placed as "conditional texts".
The effort involved in publishing catalogues and price lists is reduced to checking the content of the data thanks to the direct transfer of all content from the ERP system and the automatic generation of InDesign documents. Cleaning and correcting this data improves the quality of the ERP data, which also has a positive effect on other operational processes.
