Relaunch at Halder: target group-specific content & commerce with PIM and Omnichannel Box from INFOLOX

Relaunch at Halder – PIM, MAM, CMS, SHOP in the cloud

Erwin Halder KG, a leading manufacturer of standard parts, workpiece clamping systems, hand tools and aviation products, has opted for the Omnichannel Box platform from INFOLOX. The Omnichannel Box platform and the associated solution expertise of INFOLOX provide optimal support for the particular challenges posed by Halder's product diversity and international e-commerce orientation.

With one million content objects, several thousand very different products for various target groups, hundreds of overview tables and 17 languages, Halder's online catalogue and web shop place special demands on the technology used and the IT partner responsible. INFOLOX has been tackling this challenge since the start of the collaboration six years ago and, in addition to the existing online presence, is also responsible for product information management (PIM) and print automation (dynamic publishing) at Halder.

A comprehensive relaunch of the website was planned for 2020/21 – and Halder had raised the bar even higher for this. The aim was to address the various target groups of the Halder product worlds in the best possible way with tailor-made content and individual designs, to serve different markets with specific online shops and to connect B2C trading partners. In addition, mobile devices were also to be optimally supported.

As an open content and commerce framework, the new Omnichannel Box from INFOLOX comprehensively meets these requirements. In order to give other comparable solutions a chance and to be able to independently evaluate their cost-effectiveness, Halder also evaluated alternative offers. Despite the dynamic development of standard software such as Typo3 and Magento, however, the Omnichannel Box with INFOLOX as the integrator proved to be the most attractive package.

"The breadth of features and flexibility in content and commerce are what make the Omnichannel Box so appealing. In future, we will be able to operate a website with target group-specific online catalogues and a wide variety of web shops using just one solution: from B2B shops to B2C shops to market-specific shops such as Halder USA. In addition, we also get print outputs and the entire PIM expertise at INFOLOX from a single source. It couldn't be more convenient," emphasises Oliver Vogel, Head of Sales and Marketing at Halder.

In fact, avoiding the "Pontius Pilate effect", whereby shared responsibilities among multiple service providers result in additional costs and high coordination efforts, is a considerable advantage, especially for medium-sized companies.

"We are delighted that we were able to convince Halder not only of the quality of our agency services, but also of the strengths of our Omnichannel Box – and will thus be continuing our long-standing collaboration on a new level," adds Gunnar Fuelle, Managing Director of INFOLOX.

The project started in January 2020 with the design for the relaunch of the B2B solution with international shops and target group-specific catalogue versions. Accompanying the implementation, the overall solution was expanded to include additional languages and the product portfolio of hammer manufacturer Picard was integrated into the PIM system. The go-live took place in February 2021.

50,000 data sheets at the touch of a button – INFOLOX implements PIM2PDF process for Kermi shower design in 3 weeks

In just three weeks, hundreds of hours of manual InDesign work were replaced by intelligent and automated processes. The basis for this was the PXP Cockpit with integrated PIM2PDF library from INFOLOX. The PXP Cockpit from INFOLOX is the "single source of truth" for all imports, exports, interfaces and API2API processes between PIM, DAM, CMS, SHOP and ERP. For the fully automated creation of data sheets, price lists, catalogues, etc. as PDF and/or InDesign, the Cockpit draws on a library of display modules that has grown over 20 years.
