For the catalogue implementation, the internationally active biotechnology company based in Bergisch Gladbach once again placed its trust in the catalogue specialists at INFOLOX GmbH.
In the beginning was the PIM system
Miltenyi Biotec GmbH has been working very successfully with INFOLOX since 2011. The first joint project involved the automated creation of price lists and data sheets. A PIM system was introduced for the media-neutral and central storage of product data.
All other projects now benefit from these fundamental structures for cross-media publication creation created in the pilot project – regardless of whether they involve the company's online portal or a printed product catalogue.
Know-how
Miltenyi Biotec presented INFOLOX with no easy task: a new product catalogue had to be completely implemented in just three months and adopt the structure of the newly created online portal. To achieve this ambitious project goal, the experts at INFOLOX drew on their many years of experience in this field.
Following a concept workshop conducted by infolox, Miltenyi Biotec was responsible for the overall design of the print catalogue and provided the conceptual layout for the various presentations of the catalogue sections and product detail pages.
In a further step, INFOLOX transferred these examples to universally applicable InDesign templates. In addition, the publication processes necessary for the automated creation of the print catalogue had to be implemented and the corresponding interface – in the form of a publishing tool – had to be configured.
Clearly structured content
The new product catalogue impresses with its clearly structured page layout and offers convenient navigation with a colour coding system. Thanks to the presentation of product data in clear tables, customers can find the information they are looking for with ease.
The dense concentration of information is broken up by appealing images and informative graphics, as well as generously designed chapter start pages that facilitate navigation within the catalogue. Furthermore, QR codes take users directly to informative product videos that they can play on their smartphones. Compared to the use of conventional URLs, QR codes greatly simplify the transition from the print catalogue to the online portal.
Finally, an alphabetical product index and an order number index at the end of the catalogue enable customers to quickly find the product they are looking for and gather the information they need for reorders, for example.
"It's not just our project team that is enthusiastic about the new product catalogue. It is also very popular with our customers. We are already looking forward to our future projects, which we are sure to master just as brilliantly with the help of the specialists at infolox."
